Material errors

When a factual error could change a reader's understanding, the article should be corrected and the change should be disclosed. Minor spelling, punctuation or formatting fixes do not normally require a correction note.

Updates

An update adds new information without necessarily correcting the original reporting. Substantive updates should carry a genuine dateModified value. Mass-changing update dates without re-review is not permitted.

Source revisions

Official statistics and company results are sometimes revised after publication. Where a revision materially changes the conclusion, the article should be updated and the revised source identified.

Requesting a correction

Readers should contact the relevant publication using the editorial email listed on its About or masthead page and identify the article, disputed statement and supporting evidence.
